The Circle
The new speeds are available in two versions, with 42 mm and 57 mm profiles that replace the previous 40 mm and 55 mm while the width of the channel increases from 19 mm to 23 mm. The nose of the rim is also widened with a radius of 9.5 mm.
The new wider rims, coupled with 28 mm tires, are able to offer a performance combination without compromise, in which aerodynamic penetration, rolling resistance and comfort find their best expression. In fact, the average aerodynamic advantage, measured in the wind tunnel in frontal wind conditions, is 10% better than a rim with a 19 mm internal channel. Despite a higher profile, handling is also significantly improved. A specific research path conducted by Fulcrum has allowed us to define a formula that considers the energy dissipated by the wheel during a change of direction and the flexural deformation as a function of roll and inclination. The data obtained confirm that the handling of the new Speed improves up to 17% compared to the previous generation. | |

The rim channel does not have any holes thanks to our MOMAG assembly technology, which allows for a native 2-WAY FIT™ Tubeless rim, without the need for any sealing tape, and in the presence of a traditional Hook, guarantees maximum compatibility with all tube-type and tubeless tires on the market and maximum cyclist safety. The absence of holes on the rim channel allows the same rigidity to be maintained along the entire perimeter, also offering greater resistance to impacts. The nipple holes, obtained from the mold, also contribute to this, made without the need to drill the rim. This is in fact an operation that in traditional rims weakens the structure due to the cutting of the carbon fiber. |

The internal finishing of the channel is made using C-LUX™ technology and is therefore glossy, to ensure an agile and perfect coupling with the tire, while the external finishing of the rim is made using DIMF (Direct Inmould Matte Finish) technology made from a mold and is therefore opaque. The result is a look that reveals the rigor of the positioning of the underlying fibers on which the new product graphics are applied thanks to direct laser engraving on the fiber combined with the new ultra-thin metal labels. |
The rays
The Speed 42 and 57 use 24 flat aerodynamic spokes Ø 2/1.6/2 mm and 2/1.7/2 mm, designed specifically for this wheel and laced using the Two-to-One™ system, which involves doubling the spokes in the areas subject to greater mechanical stress to avoid energy dispersion and counteract twisting force.

The front wheel therefore has 16 spokes on the disc side and 8 on the other side, while the rear wheel is constructed in the opposite way to counteract the forces developed by the transmission. This specific construction, combined with the perfect tensioning of the spokes, gives the wheel a torsional rigidity that allows for maximum transfer of force. Considering the flexural deformation and the torsional deformation as a function of the translational, rolling and inclination energies, the new Speed improves up to +10% compared to the previous generation. The spokes are perfectly aligned between the hub and the rim so that they never touch, to improve performance and increase the longevity of the wheel. This is one of the key points of the Fulcrum product philosophy, which is applied to all the brand's wheels. |
The hub
The hubs have been completely redesigned to accommodate a more precise freewheel mechanism than the previous one while simultaneously reducing weight.
The reduction in size of the hub is evident, with flanges reduced by 40% and central body by 10% compared to the previous generation, in order to give the wheel greater resistance and less aerodynamic impact without compromising torsional rigidity.
| The bearings used for Speed 42 and 57 are of the cup and cone type and feature the USB™ (Ceramic Ultra Smooth Bearings) system with ceramic balls, which guarantees unparalleled smoothness. The hub system slides along its entire length on an aeronautical alloy aluminum axle, which allows the system to work with centesimal tolerances, guaranteeing performance and longevity. Fulcrum wheels are designed to respond to a very specific use and function, therefore they do not require the use of additional adapters or spacers with respect to the axle, as we often find in other products, and this allows for a solid system that always works in a perfectly aligned manner. The freewheel rack has been reinforced and enlarged and now houses 36 teeth. The wheel is available in configurations with Campagnolo N3W, Shimano HG and Sram XDR bodies. Describing and listing all the technologies and product benefits of the new Speed 42 and Speed 57 requires a level of detail that is difficult to summarize more than we have attempted to do. What we wanted to convey is the perfect riding sensation that these wheels offer. Lightness, Driveability, Aerodynamics and Reactivity have never been so well balanced thanks to the result of a perfect integration between form and function. |
